Description

The Gothenburg Natural History Museum has about 10 million zoological and geological objects in its scientific collections. The collections form the basis of the museum's activities, and the oldest objects are about 200 years old. The museum is part of an international research infrastructure, and this collaboration is very important in taxonomy, species, and nature conservation work.

Some of the most extensive collections, consisting of several million objects, include terrestrial and limnic invertebrates.

Responsibilities

The position involves making collection data related to the museum's prioritized collections of spiders, insects, and mollusks accessible. It also includes updating taxonomy for older material, researching old place names, and sorting and organizing prioritized collections.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic degree at least at the bachelor's level in biology or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent, preferably with a focus on terrestrial invertebrates.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with common software such as the Office suite.
• Good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Meritorious

• Previous experience working with natural history collections, e.g., handling wet preparations and interpreting older handwritten labels.
• Experience working in databases with digitization and making collections accessible.

Personal Qualities

• Attention to detail and very good organizational skills.
• Ability to work both in teams and independently.
• Great emphasis will be placed on collaboration skills and the ability to build good relationships.

Start Date

By agreement. As the project starts in March, we would like you to be able to start relatively soon, but we are open to discussions regarding the start date.
